OFFICER DEAN WHITEHEAD

The families of the Lansing Police Department and the entire community were saddened by the death of Officer Dean Whitehead on May 9, 1985. Officer Whitehead died in the line of duty during an accidental crash of Air 80, the department’s helicopter. Dean, age 30, a seven-year veteran of LPD was known as a fun-loving farm boy, a good policeman highly respected by his fellow officers. The Russell A. Lawler Humanitarian Award was presented posthumously to his family.
